Currituck Outer Banks

PINE ISLAND

Located just north of Sanderling is an upscale development on the northern beaches. Pine Island is bordered by 5,000 acres of land preserved in perpetuity as the National Audubon Society Pine Island Sanctuary. Oceanside lots range from 15,000-32,000 square feet; oceanfronts average 30,000 square feet in size. The community consists of 300 single family homesites on 385 acres. Water and sewage are central. Amenities include swimming pools, tennis courts, jogging paths, access to Pine Island Racquet Club, use of private airplane landing strip and a future beach club.

SPINDRIFT

The community of Spindrift is approximately three miles north of the Dare/Currituck County line. It is bordered on the south by Pine Island and on the north by Ocean Sands. There are 31 lots which are a minimum of 40,000 square feet in size. There are private, paved roads, well water, septic and no amenities. Gated Community.

THE CURRITUCK CLUB

The newest subdivision and only golf community on the northern Outer Banks offers an 18-hole award winning championship course. Single family homesites, villas and patio homes enjoy the tennis courts, swimming pools, lighted bike and jogging paths and stocked fishponds. Community has central water and septic and private ocean access. Gated Community.

OCEAN SANDS

The diverse community of Ocean Sands has lots ranging in size from 6,500 to 11,000 square feet. There are single family homes, condominiums, townhomes, and duplexes spread throughout the community. Ocean Sands is a PUD (planned unit development) with some areas offering central water and sewage, common open areas, tennis courts and a security patrol. All roads are paved. CROWNPOINT

Just north of Ocean Sands is Crown Point. There are 90 building sites in this community and tennis and a pool are available. Lot sizes average 6,000 square feet. Roads are paved and there is community water and sewage.

BUCK ISLAND

A newer development on the northern beaches, Buck Island offers 90 individual homesites with tennis, pool. ocean and sound access. Water and sewage are provided by Monteray Shores facilities, Designed along the lines of the successful Duck community of Ships Watch, Buck Island offers the ultimate in luxury living.

WHALEHEAD BEACH

Approximately seven miles north of the Dare/Currituck County line and east of Monteray Shores is the community of Whalehead Beach consisting of three roads running parallel to the ocean for roughly three miles. Lots range from 35,000 square feet on the oceanfront to 20,000 square feet for interior lots. The 840 lots which comprise Whalehead Beach have private wells and septic systems. There are no association fees and no amenities. Whalehead Beach provides public parking spaces throughout the community and public beach access.

MONTERAY SHORES

A soundside community which will consist of over 630 building sites in its final phase. Monteray Shores borders Whalehead Beach on its western side. This PUD is comprised of lots ranging from 8,000 to 11,000 square feet with soundside lots and homes available. Amenities include swimming, tennis, jogging trail, soundside piers, clubhouse and more. Water and sewage are centralized. Beach access is through the public accesses in Whalehead Beach.

COROLLA LIGHT

North of Whalehead Beach and Monteray Shores is Corolla Light, A PUD of 260 lots ranging in size from 8,000 to 11,000 square feet. The amenities package is very extensive with services ranging from an oceanfront recreation center with pools, homeowners lounge, gazebo, basketball and shuffleboard; to a soundfront sailing center with rental sailing equipment. An indoor rec center with swimming, tennis and health club complete the package. A tram circles through the community providing easy access. Corolla Light has its own water and sewage treatment plant and is governed by strict architectural controls. The community consists of single family homes and homesites, multi-family dwellings and commercial acreage.

OCEAN HILL

A community of 113 lots, averaging 20,000 square feet, Ocean Hill has individual septic systems and wells. No amenities are available, but the beach is magnificent.

THE VILLAGES AT OCEAN HILL

A newer 341 lot community, The Villages at Ocean Hill offers tennis, pools, sound access, and a gorgeous oceanfront. Lot sizes vary from 8,500 square feet on the interior lots to 20,000 square feet on the oceanfront. Sewage and water are provided by the county. This development marks the end of the paved roads on the Currituck Outer Banks.
